The Wordline Alphanumeric Pager


 

TURNING THE PAGER ON
Press the power-on/read button to turn the pager on.  A start-up message is displayed momentarily and your pager activates the currently selected alert.  When the pager is on and no activity is taking place, the standby screen is displayed.  The standby screen displays the power indicator, the time and date, the alert mode, and may display other pager indicators such as alarm status.

BACKLIGHT
Press and hold the read/power-on button for one second or more to activate the LCD message screen and backlight.

MENU ICONS
The four menu icons on the top row correspond to the four menus:  CONTROLS, DELETE ALL, ALERTS and ALARMS.  The first time you press the mode button, these icons are displayed.  The controls menu icon flashes, indicating that pressing the select button will enter the controls menu.  Press and release the mode button to display the CONTROLS?, DELETE ALL?, ALERTS?, and ALARMS? Menu prompts.  Press the select button to enter the corresponding menus, or press the mode button to return to the standby screen.

TURNING THE PAGER OFF
From the standby screen, press the select button the display CONTROL?.  The control menu icon flashes.  Press the select button to display OFF?.  Press the select button to turn the pager off.  The off screen is displayed without any icons.

SETTING THE SCROLL SPEED
You can choose the speed at which your messages scroll, or read them line by line.  From the standby screen, press the mode button to display CONTROLS?.  The controls menu icon flashes.  Press the select button to enter the CONTROLS menu.  Press and release the mode button until SCROLL? Is displayed.  Press the select button to enter the SCROLL menu.  Press and release the mode button to choose the scroll speed.  Press the select button to select the scroll speed.  There are four scroll speeds to choose from:  LINE-BY-LINE, SCROLL 1, SCROLL 2, and SCROLL 3 (fastest).

RECEIVING/READING MESSAGES
When a message is received, your pager either alerts audibly or vibrates.  A message indicator lets you know how many messages you have received.  Pressing the read button displays the message indicator on the message status screen.  Press any button to stop the alert.  Press the read button to display the message status screen.  The message indicators for unread messages flash until any part of the message is read.  Press the read button to read the selected message or press the select button to select another message, then press the read button.  If your pager is set to scroll the message automatically, the remainder of the message is automatically displayed at that speed.  To pause or restart a scrolling message, press the read button.  If the scrolling speed is set to LINE-BY-LINE, press the read button to view the next screen.  Allow the pager to automatically return to the standby screen, or press the mode button and then the read button.  If a message is unread, your pager will give periodic alerts until all unread messages are read.  This will continue for up to 30 minutes.  A message is considered read if any part of the message is displayed.

DUPLICATE MESSAGES
When a duplicate message is received, DUPLICATE is displayed after the message number and before the message.  The time the duplicate message was received is displayed.

SETTING THE TIME AND DATE
From the standby screen, press the mode button to display CONTROLS?.  The controls menu icons flashes.  Press the select button to enter the CONTROLS menu.  Press and release the mode button until TIME/DATE? is displayed.  Press the select button to enter the TIME/DATE menu.  The hour field flashes.  Press and release the mode button to adjust the hour.  Press the mode button to move to the next field.  Repeat steps 5 and 6 for the minutes, AM/PM, month and day fields.  Press the read button from any field to save.

SETTING A MESSAGE ALERT
From the standby screen, press and release the mode button until ALERTS? Is displayed.  The alert icon flashes.  Press the select button to enter the ALERTS menu.  VIBRATE?, AUDIO?, CHIRP?, ESCALERT?, OR NO ALERT? Is displayed.  Press the select button to select the desired alert.  The standby screen is displayed with the corresponding alert icon.

CHOOSING AN AUDIO ALERT
From the ALERTS menu, press and release the mode button until AUDIO? Is played.  Press the select to enter the AUDIO menu.  Press the mode button until your choice of audio alert is displayed.  The pager emits a sample of each alert.  Press the select button to select your choice of audio alert.  The standby screen is displayed with the audio alert icon.

SETTING THE ALARM
From the standby screen, press and release the mode button until ALARMS? Is displayed.  The alarm icon flashes.  Press the select button to enter the ALARMS menu.  The alarm number 01 flashes.  Press the mode button to choose alarm 01,02, or 03.  Press the select button to move to the next field.  The enable or disable icon flashes.  Press the mode button to enable or disable the alarm.  Press the select button to move to the hour field.  The hour flashes.  Press and release the mode button to adjust the hour.  Press the select button to move to the next field.  Repeat steps 7 & 8 to set the minutes, AM/PM, month, and day fields.  Press the read button in any field to save and exit.

LOCKING AND UNLOCKING MESSAGES
By locking messages, you can save personal message to prevent them from being replaced when the memory is full.  Messages can be locked only while reading them.  Press the mode button while reading a message to display LOCK?.  Press the select button to lock the message.  The message indicator is displayed.  To unlock a message, press the mode button while reading a locked personal message to display UNLOCK?.  Press the select button to unlock the message.  The message indicator is displayed.

DELETING MESSAGES
To delete a single message, while reading a message press and release the mode button until DELETE? Is displayed.  Press the select button to delete the message.  To delete all messages, press and release the mode button until DELETE ALL? Is displayed.  The delete icon flashes.  Press the select to enter the DELETE menu.  The delete confirmation DELETE? is displayed.  Press the select button to delete all messages.

REPLACING THE BATTERY
Turn your pager off.  To remove the old battery, slide the battery door lock toward the top of the pager to unlock the battery door.  While pressing on the battery door, slide the door until the ribs on the battery door align with the ribs on the back cover.  Lift the battery door to free it from the housing.  Remove the battery.  Align the new battery according to the diagram in the battery compartment.  Insert the battery.  To replace the battery door, align the grooves on the battery door with the grooves on the back cover and slide the battery door closed.  Slide the battery door lock toward the bottom of the pager to lock the battery door.
