ALPHANUMERIC PAGER

 INSTALLING THE BATTERY

Slide off the battery cover.  Install AAA alkaline battery, making sure that + and – match.  You pager will switch itself on in beep mode.  Greeting message is displayed on the screen.

 

CONTROL BUTTONS

There are three buttons on your pager. 

l Read Button:  read a message, stop alert or alarm and return to previous menu.

► Forward Button:  search message or mail drop.

▬ Function Button:  enter menu set, set various functions, backlighting and turn on.

 

FUNCTIONS-FIRST MENU BOARD

Press ▬.  Time and greetings are displayed.  Press ▬ to activate the first menu board.  Press ► to move the cursor.  As you move through the menu board, the symbols blink to indicate the present location of the cursor.  To select the menu, press ▬.  To exit from the menu board, press l.    In the first menu board there are the following locations: 

Mail Drop:  read mail drop (information) message, (not available in North Bay, Sudbury, Timmins)

Set Alert:  set alert for private & mail drop message,

Set clock:  set time & date,

Set Alarm:  set 5 alarms,

Telephone Director:  store phone numbers,

Auto On/Off:  set automatic power on or off,

Power Off:  power off the pager,

Exit:  return to standby mode, and

Next:  move to second menu board.

 

FUNCTIONS-SECOND MENU BOARD

You can access the second menu board by choosing “next” in the first menu board.  To move the cursor, press ►.  To selection the menu, press ▬.  In the second menu board there are the following locations:

Read Saved Message:  read saved message,

Read Saved Mail:  read saved mail drops,

Set Contract:  set LCD brightness,

Battery Level:  display battery gauge icon,

Set Auto Scroll:  set scrolling speed,

Select Language:  English, Russian, Spanish, Portuguese,

Select Font:  select font size,

Edit Greetings:  entering greetings,

Delete All:  delete all private messages and

Previous:  move to first menu board.

 

TURNING PAGER ON/OFF

Turn Pager Off

Press ▬, date and time are displayed.

Press ▬ again to activate first menu board.  To move the cursor press ►until “Power Off” is displayed.  Press ▬ to select and press ▬ again to confirm.

Turn Pager On

Press ▬ until the pager is backlight and sounds beep alert.  Your pager displays greeting message.

 

SETTING DATE AND TIME

Your pager automatically records the time and date that each message is received.  From the first menu board, press ► to display “Set Clock”.  Press ▬ to set clock.  Press ► to display desired value.  Press ▬ to enter the hour.  Repeat to set minutes, year, month and day.  To exit press l.

 

CHOOSING DIFFERENT ALERTS

You can set alert audible, vibrating or silent for private message and set tone or silent for information message.

From the first menu board, press ► to display “Set Alert”.  Press ▬, alert menu is activating.  To set Melody Alert:  From the alert menu, press ► to move cursor to melody icon.  Press ▬.  You can select one of ten kinds of melodies.  To scan the options press ►.  When the desired option is displayed, press ▬ to confirm.  To exit from the menu board press l twice.  To set Tone Alert:  From the alert menu, press ► to display “Tone”.  Press ▬.  You can select one of tend kinds of tone.  To scan the options, press ►.  When the desired option is displayed, press ▬ to confirm.  To exit from menu board, press l twice.  Setting Vibration:  From alert menu, press ► to move cursor to “Vibration”.  Press ▬.  To exit from the menu board, press l twice.  Setting Silent Alert:  From the alert menu, press ► to display “Silent”.  Press ▬.  Lamp comes on.  To exit from menu board, press l twice.

 

READING PRIVATE MESSAGE

Your pager can receive up to 80 private messages.  When receiving a message, your pager alerts for 12 seconds or vibrates for 5 seconds.  Press any button to stop the alert.  Unread message icon (closed envelope) appears.  The message will be stored with the received time and date in slot.  Press l twice and the received time and date will be displayed.  Press l again and the received message will be displayed.  *You can select auto scroll and adjust the speed using the “Auto Scroll” feature.  To read other stored messages, continue to press l.  The memory can keep up to 80 messages of 200 characters.  When the memory is full, the screen display  will show “Memory Full” and the next received message will automatically delete the oldest read message.  You should delete old message or save to memory to ensure that important messages are not automatically deleted. 

 

SCANNING MESSAGES

You can scan the list of slot number and time stamp.  This feature helps you search the message you desire to read.  Press ►.  The time is displayed.  Press ► again.  The time stamp and slot number are displayed.  To move to the next list, press ►.  To move to the previous list, press ▬.  As the list you desire to read is displayed on the screen, press l.  The message is show on the screen.

 

SAVING MESSAGES

You can protect important messages from being erased with “Delete All” function.  You can save up to 20 private messages.  Press ▬ while reading the message.  Move the cursor to the highlighted lock icon, using ►.  Press ▬ to save it.  The un-highlighted lock icon means empty message room.  Press ► to place the cursor to the location you desire.  When you select the lock icon, “Overwrite?” appears.  Press ▬.  The message is saved with a chirping sound. 

 

READING SAVED MESSAGES

Press ▬ twice in standby mode.  The first menu board is activated.  Press ► to move the indicator to “Next” icon.  Press ▬ to confirm.  The second menu board is activated.  Press ► to display “Read Saved MSG”.  Press ▬.  Press ► to select the message you want to read.  Press ▬ to read selected message.  Then press l.

 

DELETING A MESSAGE

You can delete an unsaved message while you are reading the message.  Press ▬ while you are reading the message.  Press ► to move the cursor to the scissors icon.  Press ▬.  Your pager asks confirmation.  Press ▬ again to confirm.  The message is deleted with chirping sound.  To exit from delete mode, select NO by ►.

 

DELETING ALL MESSAGES

“DELETE ALL” command deletes all messages except the locked messages.  From second menu board, press ► to display “Delete All”.  Press ▬.  Your pager asks confirmation.  If Piccolo has no message, the screen displays “No Messages” upon pressing l.  Press ▬ to confirm.  All messages are deleted with chirping sound.  To exit from this mode without changes, select “No” by ►.  The screen displays the second menu board.

 

MAIL DROP

Mail drop is available on this pager but not in our area.

 

PHONE DIRECTORY

The phone directory can save up to 32 entries, each with a name and phone number.  Each name can be up to 14 characters long and each phone number can be up to 14 digits long.  From the first menu board, select “Tel.directory” by ►.  Then press ▬.  Press ► to choose the desired location and press ▬.  Press ► to select the first character, then press ▬ to move next.  Repeat the above steps until you have entered the entire name.  After entering the name, enter the phone number.  Press ► to select the first digit.  Then press ▬ repeatedly until you hear chirping sound.  Number has been saved.

 

SETTING ALARM

Your pager allows you to set three types of alarms, daily, one time and snooze alarm.  To set daily alarm, choose alarm 1 or 2. and to set one time, choose alarm 3 or 4.  To set snooze, select alarm 5.  Snooze alarm is reminding alarm, it works 4 times every 5 minutes on time you set the alarm type, the icon, associated with alarm types, is automatically changed.

To “Set Alarm” using the ►, then press ▬.  Press ► to select alarm types.  Then press ▬.  As you scan alarm types, the associated icon and type of alarm are automatically changed.  To set alarm on, press ►.  When icon is changed to bell sign, press ▬.  Press ► to set the hour to desired value.  Then press ▬ to move to next field.  Repeat same procedures to set the value of each field.  The standby screen is displayed.  When alarm alerts, the icon, associated with alarm types, will be displayed on the screen.  To stop alarms, press any button.

 

SETTING AUTO TIMER

You can set your pager to power on or off automatically at a selected time of day.  You can save battery power by using this function, but your pager won’t receive any message during these times.  From the first menu board, select “Auto On/Off” by ►.  Then press ▬.  To set auto timer on, press ►.  When the icon is changed to a circle with a horizontal line, press ▬.  To set auto on/off time; follow the same procedures of setting time.

 

SETTING SCREEN BRIGHTNESS

To adjust screen brightness, from the second menu board, press ► to select “Set Contrast”.  Then press ▬.  Press ► to adjust the brightness of screen you want.  Then press ▬.

 

BATTERY LEVEL

From the second menu board, press ► to select “Battery Level”.  Then press ▬.  The present battery gauge is displayed.  To exit from this mode, press l.

 

SETTING AUTO SCROLL

From the second menu board, press ► to select “Set Auto Scroll”.  Then press ▬.  To select “ON”, press ► and then press ▬.  To select scrolling speed, press ►.  When the desired option is displayed, press ▬.

 

SELECTING MENU SCRIPT LANGUAGE

You can select the menu script language from English, Russian, Spanish or Portuguese.  From the second menu board choose “Select Language”, then press ▬.  To choose language, press ►.  When the desired language is selected, press ▬.

 

SELECTING FONT SIZE

From the second menu board, choose “Set Font”, then press ▬.  To choose font size, press ►.  When the desired option is selected, press ▬.

 

ENTERING GREETINGS

You can enter greeting messages up to 16 characters including spaces.  The greeting is shown on the initial screen when power is on.  From the second menu board, choose “Edit Greetings”, then press ▬.  Press ► to select alphabet and press ▬ to move the cursor to next.  After entering the entire message, press ▬.  The greeting message, you entered, are saved and return to the second menu board.  It will be automatically edited to be centered on the screen.  To cancel editing without saving, press l before finish editing.
