A percentage of every dollar that Northern Communication Services generates from it's clients goes
to help various charities, needy organizations and youth groups.
Once again our United Way campaign
was been a huge success. Every year at the end of the campaign I wonder how
we’re going to manage to continue to increase our donations to the United Way
through payroll deduction. But every year our staff continues to dig deep and
help.

to protect the environment where we can. As we are not in manufacturing etc.
many of the risks to the environment that other companies generate don’t apply
to our organization. That being said, we can all do
our bit to help the environment!! If we all help a little, we can make a
difference!!
Green Solutions at Northern
Communications
Our goal is to be an environmentally conscious
organization that helps to benefit the environment by contributing to
environmental objectives, such as:

Reducing greenhouse
gas emissions and air contaminants

We encourage
car-pooling, walking and public transit usage.

Improving energy and
water efficiency

With the recent
installation of a high efficiency hot water tank and the installation of low
water use toilets.

Implementation of
policies to turn off lights and computers when not in use.

Installation of
light and fan timers in frequently empty rooms.

Reducing
ozone-depleting substances

By eliminating the
use of Styrofoam cups and plates in our facility

By providing
“real” dishes to our staff.

Banning all
scented products such as air fresheners, perfumes and aerosol containers.

Using natural and
biodegradable soaps and detergents in our kitchen and bathrooms including
tissue made from recycled products.

Reducing waste and
supporting reuse and recycling

With an in-house
recycling program to encourage the recycling of products including wood,
plastic, cardboard, glass, ink cartridges and fine paper.

Investing in
technology that supports electronic faxing, electronic filing, and
electronic billing to reduce the amount of paper being used.

Promoting and
providing incentives to customers that use electronic billing.

Purchasing
recycled paper, ink cartridges, paper towel and tissue when possible.

Reducing hazardous
waste

With proper
disposal of paints, oils and other chemicals going to the local Hazardous
Waste Facility.

Reducing toxic and
hazardous chemicals and substances

By implementing a
company policy that limits the use of any toxic or hazardous chemicals.

Training of staff
on WHMIS and posting all MSDS for all products used in the workplace.

Supporting an
active Joint Health and Safety Committee within the company to promote a
safe and healthy and environmentally friendly workplace.
