Paging? Cellular? Or Both? Some applications are clearly for pagers, and some are clearly for cellular. Making certain you have the right one is important. Both tools allow you to be reached by others right away. Those who feel the convenience of outgoing calls are worth the added expense of cellular, but want to control excessive bills, will continue to use a pager in conjunction with a cellular phone. Operating with both a pager and a cellular can be less expensive than operating with a cellular by itself Pagers allow you to receive and store multiple messages without interrupting a meeting. A cellular has to be answered when the call comes in, or you can get voice mail for an additional fee. A pager allows you to screen calls at no additional charge. Once again, the only method of call screening for cellular phones is to interrupt your work and answer the call or add voice mail at additional cost. A pager is like a portable fax machine when it comes to delivering information. Messages tend to be shorter and more concise. Information over cellular typically gets off topic and includes pleasantries. Time is money on the cellular! A pager does not allow outgoing calls which makes it significantly less expensive to operate. The cellular costs more because it receives and transmits. This is not necessary for all applications. Make certain you need the ability to call out before you commit to the expense associated with cellular technology. Should you decide a cellular is needed, make certain you inquire as to how you can use it in conjunction with a pager in order to maximize efficiency while minimizing costs.

HOW ARE YOU CONNECTED? For the Answering Service to answer your telephone line, your line has to be connected to our office. Today, with the advent of “call forwarding” no special extensions need to be installed. Here are the advantages to you and your customers: • Calls answered one ring faster. • Significant savings on Bell line charges. • You control when the service is on or off. Call forwarding is more reliable than the extension method. • If you have multiple equivalent lines, call forwarding allows a second caller to hear a busy signal. With the extensions method, a second call will ring continuously and never be patched through to our message centre. • If you want to call to pick up your messages or to page someone from your office at anytime, you can call your “DID” call forwarding number. When the operators answer the line, your file is displayed immediately on their computer terminal providing them with all relevant information. This saves you time and money.
PERFORMANCE TIPS For alphanumeric clients, adding numeric access to your pager can result in significant savings. Ask us about this! If you have a voice or a numeric pager and a mail box, you can disable and enable your pager on your own by dialling into your mail box entering your access code and then pressing 8. This will activate a system greeting that will let people know that you are not available to take calls. |
