The Mini-Numeric Pager BATTERY The Mini Numeric uses one AAA battery (alkaline batteries are recommended). Insert battery into compartment making sure you have the negative (-) end of the battery against the spring. When the battery is low, the pager will beep for four seconds and the low battery symbol will be displayed on the screen. Locked or unread messages will not be erased for a period of ten minutes when you remove the battery to change it.
STANDBY/READY MODE When the battery is first inserted, the pager LCD screen will display a number of digits and then will stay on Standby/Ready mode. The pager will always return to Standby/Ready mode when you are no longer viewing messages or setting up special programming. It will display the time and show any icons for special features in use.
BEEP/VIBRATION SELECTION The pager gives you the option of turning the beep on or off. To turn the beep on or off, press the yellow button until you see “Beep on” or “Beep off” depending on which setting was previously chosen. Press the red button, which alternates the function between on and off. In the off mode, the pager will vibrate to alert you to a new message. When you choose which alert you would like, press the green button to set.
AUDIBLE BEEP/MELODY SELECTION After choosing the “Beep on” selection, you may choose from ten melodies and beep alerts. Press the yellow button until you see “Audio SEL”. Press the red button to see and year the currently selected melody. Push the yellow button to scroll through the beep and melody choices: Audio 0: Regular Beep Sound Audio 1: Rapid Beep Sound Audio 2: Jingle Bells Audio 3: Island of Capri Audio 4: Train Song Audio 5: You Are My Sunshine Audio 6: Moonlight on the Colorado Audio 7: Do Re Mi Audio 8: Happy Birthday Audio 9: Ballad of Davey Crockett Once you have chosen which melody you would like, and the display for that melody is on the screen, press the green button to set.
POWER ON/OFF To turn the pager off, press the yellow button three times until you see the word “OFF”. Press the red button one time. The screen will display the time even when the pager is turned off. To turn the pager back on, press the green button. The pager will beep to indicate that it has been turned on. All stored messages will be erased, except unread and locked pages.
AUTO POWER ON/OFF The pager may be set up to automatically turn on and off at selected times. Press the yellow button until the “Auto On” or “Auto Off” display shows in the screen. Use the red button to alternate between “Auto On” and “Auto Off”. When “Auto On” is shown, press the yellow button. The screen shows “SET Auto”. Press the red button to see the On/Off screen. The display shows four sets of two zeros. The first and second sets of zeros (on the left) represent the hour and minutes at which you want your pager to turn on. The other two sets of zeros on the right represent the hour and minutes you want your pager to turn off. Press the yellow button to scroll through the time and choose the hour which you would like to turn the pager on. When chosen, press the red button. The minutes will flash - choose the minutes of the time you want the pager turned on. Press the red button to select. Now, the “off” times will flash. Repeat procedure to set “off” time. When selected, press the green button to set. Note that military time is used - 2400 clock.
ALARM The alarm can be set to sound at three different times. To set the alarm, press the yellow button until you see the “Set Alarm” screen. Press the red button to set the first alarm. The screen shows the alarm label (A1, A2, or A3) followed by two sets of zeros to indicate the time you would like the alarm to sound. While in the A1 screen, press the yellow button to scroll through the hours to set the time you want the alarm to sound. When the hours are set, press the red button to move to the minutes. Use the yellow button to select the minutes. Press the red button to set the minutes and move to the right. Press the yellow button to alternate between “on” and “--” (off). To set the next alarm, press the red button, or to press the green button to lock in the alarm time.
SETTING THE CLOCK To set the time, press the yellow button until you see “CAL” in the screen. Press the red button. You will see “A” or “P” (regular time) or a dash “-“ (military time - 2400 clock) flashing. Use the yellow button to alternate between these. Press the red button to move to the hour. Use the yellow button to change the hour. When selected, press the red button to move to the minutes. Using the yellow button, select the minutes, Press the red button to move to the A (a.m.)/P (p.m.) if in regular time mode. Use the yellow button to select A or P. When you are finished, press the green button to return to standby mode.
NOTEBOOK FUNCTION The notebook feature allows you to save number information for retrieval at anytime. It has 30 memory slots. The notebook also allows you to give a two digit code to specific people who will be sending you pages frequently. The pager will recognize the two digit code and show their full number on the screen, when programmed to do so. A different beep or alert melody can be set so you know immediately that you are receiving a message from that person. To setup the notebook, press the yellow button until you see “Set Note” in the screen. Press the red button to reach the first notebook slot. Pressing the yellow button scrolls you through all thirty notebook slots, which are numbered 0 - 9, 0 - 9B, and 0 - 9A. The first number on the screen will show you which slot you are viewing, and if in the “A” or “B” sequence, the letter will show up at the bottom of the screen, on the right hand side. When you have selected a message slot you want to fill, press the red button. The cursor will flash in the first digit spot. Use the yellow function button to scroll through the numbers 0 - 9 and stop on the number of your choice. Press the red button to move the cursor to the right. Continue as before, selecting a maximum of nine digits you want entered show up on the screen. Choosing a number in the 10th slot selects the beep or melody which will sound when the two digit code is received by the pager. If you want to have the special alert function activated, leave the first two programmable digits blank. Example: 0—65800112 When the caller sends the two digit message to the pager (example: *00 - “star, zero, zero” for the first message slot), your pager will alert you with the selected beep/melody (in this case - melody “2” as selected by the 10th digit), and the programmed number will show up on the screen (in this case “658-0011”). When entering numbers, if you make a mistake, use the red button to scroll to the right, past the end, and start over at the position you would like to correct. When you are finished, use the green button to exit. *** The following chart shows all 30 notebook codes:
READING YOUR MESSAGES When you receive a page, the pager will notify you with a beep, vibrate, or other alert you have chosen (which lasts for 12 seconds). While alerting you of a page, the screen will show the number of unread messages and the time the most recent page was received. The screen will then return to standby mode and the unread icon will be displayed in the lower right hand corner. To read the message, press the green button one time. The first screen will show you the total number of messages you have on file including all new messages. Pressing the green button again will show the message slot (example: 1A) on the left, and on the right you will see the time the message was received. Press the green button again and the message will be displayed. If the message is longer than twelve digits, it will be continued onto the next screen. Press the green button again to see the remainder of the message. You can scroll through all messages in the pager by continuing to press the green button. If you press the green button while the pager is first alerting you, you will be taken directly to the incoming message.
MESSAGE LOCK To protect a message you do not want to erase, press the green button until the message is displayed on the screen. Press the red button to turn the lock on. You will see the message lock icon (padlock) at the bottom of the screen. You can lock up to 16 messages, but if you do so, each new message you receive will delete your oldest locked message. To erase all unlocked pages, turn off the pager and turn it back on. Locked pages will remain in the pager, and all others will be erased.
BACKLIGHT To turn the backlight on, press the yellow button and hold for at least three seconds. The backlight will stay on for a few seconds, and automatically turn off. |
