Some work environments demand an employee check-in system to ensure the safety of workers. Employees who work in a secluded and or potentially dangerous environment must be checked on every once in a while to be sure that a tragedy has not befallen them. In some instances laws and union contracts require that employers have a system to ensure that their employees are safe. Examples of work settings that may require an employee check-in service are industrial jobs where employees work in a secluded area, social workers who make house visits, electrical linesmen…. Northern Communications provides a vital part of this process with our Security Check-In service. We issue a unique telephone number, which is routed into our voicemail management system. The unique schedule for each individual is programmed in. The employee is required to call the telephone number, for example every two hours and after listening to a voice prompt, key in a number. He/she can then hang up and continue on with his job. The system clock “resets” and waits for the next 2 hour period. In the event that the employee does not check in, the event is presented to our operator. We then follow the client's instructions. If there is a regular telephone or cell phone coverage at the location where the employee is working, as an example, we can call to confirm they are safe. If there is no answer we can call a supervisor or go down an entire list of personnel to reach someone to go on scene and investigate. Northern Communications currently provides similar call-out service to a number of clients. Our operators are familiar with both the terminology of many industries and those situations when regular calls escalate to priority calls. We are members of the Canadian Call Centre Association and have won the national “Award of Excellence” in eight of the last 12 years. We provide service to local companies, some from across the province and some nation wide. We operate twenty four hours per day, seven days a week. Although not all staff are bilingual, all shifts have bilingual people available. (73% of the staff are bilingual French/English) All messages are automatically dated, time stamped and stored in our computer for seven days. If you require information from farther back, it is available for many months back from archive. The audio on all calls is recorded and available for review in the event of a problem. We operate an Infinity Messaging system and have 100% of all critical spares on hand. The system operates on a battery back-up arrangement and we have an auto-start natural gas powered generator to run the operation in the event of a commercial power failure. Your calls will get through! If you are concerned about the safety of your employees and want to know more about this system, please call us at (800) 461-3317 or (705) 673-6888. Likewise, if you already have an employee check-in system but would like to compare your current costs to the cost of using our automated system, give us a call.
