TURNING YOUR PAGER ON AND OFF

A three-position button is located on the side of the pager.  The bottom position is the “off” position.  The middle position is the “vibrate/silent” position.  The top position is the “audible beep” position.

To turn the pager on, the button is slid to the middle (silent) or top (audible) position, depending on the type of alert you choose to have at the time.  The pager tests itself, and then a line of dashes (-----) becomes visible on the screen.

To turn the pager off, slide the button to the bottom position.  The screen goes blank.  It is a good idea to turn the pager off when it is not needed, as this will greatly improve battery life.

TURNING ON THE BACKLIGHT

n    Press the ON/OFF switch to turn on the backlight for easy viewing in low-light conditions.

RECEIVING AND READING YOUR MESSAGES

When a message is received, the pager gives an audible or vibrate alert for eight seconds.  The alert automatically stops, or you can reset the pager by pressing any of its buttons.

To read your message, press the é button.  To “freeze” your message, press and hold the é button while viewing it.   The message will timeout twelve seconds after releasing the é button.

PROTECTING A MESSAGE

To lock a message (protect it from being overwritten or erased), press the ¤ button while the message screen is displayed.  A lock symbol is displayed on the  right-hand corner of the screen to indicate the message is locked.  Up to three messages can be locked in memory.

To unlock a message, follow the procedure used to lock it.  The lock symbol disappears from the message screen.

ERASING MESSAGES

To erase messages in the pager, slide the ON/OFF switch to the “OFF” (bottom) position, then turn the pager back on.  All previously received pages will be erased.

STANDARD FEATURES

Memory Capacity:  The pager saves up to 100 characters of data messages in combinations of five 20-character messages.  “Tone only” messages are also saved for one-time review.

Message Protect/Lock:  Up to three individual messages can be locked in memory so they will not be overwritten by new messages.

Hold Full Indicator:  You can selectively protect up to three messages by locking them in memory.  When an attempt to lock more than three messages is made, the “HOLD FULL” prompt will flash to indicate the message cannot be protected.

Reminder Chirp:  When an unread message is stored in memory, the pager gives a reminder chirp (short beep) every two minutes.  Vibrate models emit a short vibration in place of the chirp when in the SILENT mode.  The reminder chirp accelerates to every 15 seconds when the memory is full.

Automatic Reset:  If you do not reset your pager during an alert, it automatically resets after eight seconds.

Master Reset:  Pressing the ON/OFF switch resets the pager and causes the pager to return to the standby mode.

Duplicate Message:  Incoming messages are compared to messages stored in memory.  If a new message is identical to a message in memory, “DUPLICATE” is displayed at the beginning of the message

Low Battery Indicator:  When the battery nears the end of its life, the standby screen (---------) is replaced with “LOW CELL”.  The battery must be replaced within a few days to avoid interruption of pager operation.

Tone Only:  The message “TONE ONLY” is displayed when a message is received without data.  It is usually an indication of a call to the pager where the caller simply hangs up without sending data.

Unread Message Counter:  When unread messages exist, the standby screen is replaced by the unread message indicator.  The unread message indicator displays the number of messages that have not been read, and is updated anytime a message is received (except if message duplication occurs).  If the é button is pressed and there are no messages in memory “NO PAGES” is displayed.

Memory Full:  If five messages (with a maximum of 20 digits each)  are stored in memory, the memory is full.  A new message causes the oldest (first) unlocked, read message to be overwritten.  When the read messages are erased, the pager returns to the standby mode.

Overflow Indicator:  When the number of unread messages is greater than the number of available memory slots (five), “OVERFLOW” replaces the unread message indicator.  “OVERFLOW” indicates that the oldest (first) unread message has been deleted from memory by a more recent message.

Backlighted Display:  Press the ON/OFF switch for backlight in low-light conditions.

Freeze Screen:  When reading a message, you can “freeze” it on the screen by pressing and holding down the é button.

Silent:  When in the SILENT mode, the pager does not give an audible alert.

BATTERY INFORMATION

Your Bravo Numeric pager is designed to operate with a single AA size alkaline batter.

Installing the Battery:

n    Locate the ribbed lock on the button of the pager.  Slide the lock toward the back cover.

n    With the thumb pressed on the recess of the battery door, slide the door in the direction of the arrow until it disengages from the housing.

n    Remove the old battery, noting the polarity.

n    Orient the new AA-size battery so that its “+” and +-+ markings match the direction of the diagram embossed on the back cover.  Insert the new battery.

n    Align the semicircle in the battery door with the semicircle on the bottom of the pager near the word “LOCK”.  Press down on the end of the door nearest the battery, and slide the battery door to its completely closed position.

n    After the cover is closed, slide the lock toward the front of the pager.

NOTE:  When replacing the battery, all messages are lost.
